Meet the GSF Team
Julie Armstrong Wilson
Chief Operating Officer
Chief Operating Officer
RGN, Diploma in Health studies, MSc in Health and Social Care Sciences
Julie started her care career in a residential care home in South West London. The opportunity gave her great insight into how we care for our elderly population and the important role care staff have supporting the resident, their family and each other. It was from this role that her initial passion for end of life care began and in 1985 she embarked on her nurse training at St Georges Hospital in London. As a qualified nurse she has spent the majority of her career focused on the care of our elderly population. She has had a variety of roles providing direct patient care in Acute and Community Hospitals, to improving systems as a Discharge Coordinator, Older Persons National Service Framework Lead supporting the development of services e.g. falls, Stroke, Dementia and End of Life care services and Service Reform manager with a specific focus on palliative and end of life care and it was while doing this role she came across GSF. She secured funding for care homes locally to undertake the GSF training and accreditation process as she could see the benefit, how it empowered “gave a voice” to the social care sector and gave her the opportunity to influence change, to enable people to experience a good death.

Lead Nurse for Health & Social Care
RGN, BSc (Hons) in Palliative Care, and PGCE
Ginny started her nursing career in August 1989 when she started her nursing training at Lovelock Jones School of Nursing in High Wycombe. As a qualified nurse Ginny worked in the acute sector, including male surgery, ENT, acute medical, medical assessment unit and took a year nursing on a working holiday to Australia. In 2002 Ginny recognised her passion for nursing care was in end-of-life care and worked as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in the community for a Hospice at Home Service. Ginny has also worked in Social Care, as an end-of-life care lead for an organisation that managed Residential Care homes, Nursing homes and Domiciliary care for the Elderly, those with Dementia and those with Learning Disabilities. Ginny has also worked as a Practice development Nurse, and this is where she became aware that not only was her passion end of life care but also teaching. Ginny has recognised that end of life care is not always equal for all, and to ensure we have equality in care, is to ensure that those who care for people are educated, have good knowledge, and understanding of the importance, of a gold standard of care, at end of life. Ginny first joined GSF in November 2018.

NNEB, GN, NVQ level 5 Management, Distinction Diploma and Health and Social Care, BA in English Language and Literature, FAETC, Cert Ed
Gaynor commenced her nursing career in 1980 at the Royal Isle of Wight School of nursing. As a qualified nurse she worked in the acute sector, including medical and surgical areas. Following the birth of her children Gaynor decided to leave the acute setting and began working in a nursing home. Here, she worked her way up from a Staff Nurse to the Home Manager, retaining this post for 18 years. Gaynor had a strong belief in the importance of training and education in ensuring good practice and as a result gained her Certificate in Education, enabling her to train her own staff and others in a variety of areas. Ill health meant a step down from her Home Manager role to Support Manager , a position she still holds today alongside her role as accreditation lead for GSF. Gaynor has always had an enthusiasm for the provision of excellence in end of life care and her passion for GSF was ignited by taking her nursing home through the training and accreditation process and seeing the benefits of this first hand.
