Enabling a gold standard of care for all people nearing the end of life

RCGP & Patient Charter

As the Royal College of General Practioners (RCGP) Clinical Champion of End of Life Care, Keri Thomas has chaired the UK RCGP End of Life Care (EOLC) working group and is involved in developing several means of supporting GP’s in End of Life Care. This includes develop of the RCGP/RCN Patient charter in end of life care, accompaning Guidance leaflet and Prognostic Indicator Guidance, improved EOLC web resources to the RCGP website with video clip.

Further work includes developing a GPwSI- care homes and ACP teach.

NICE Summary

June 2011 saw the launch of the joint RCGP and Royal College of Nursing (RCN) End of Life Care (EOLC) Patient Charter for England. The charter represents an ideal of best practice that all patients nearing the end of their life should be able to seek from their primary healthcare team. It is accompained by a letter, guidance, signposted resources and the EOLC website, video clips and other resources.
