Quality Improvement - (GSF in Care Homes Briefing Paper June 2009)
- The preparation and training stages of the programme over 9 to 12 months.
- Standardised curriculum of contents, successful workshop format (well road-tested workshops over 5 years) including relevant adult learning techniques, experiential learning, ‘speed dating’ and experience of care homes and acclaimed experts
- All resources, materials and up-to-date evidence of best practice
- A staged programme of four gears allowing a step by step approach to build confidence and experience.

Quality Assurance (
Going for Gold Paper)
- The Accreditation Process ‘Going for Gold’, using internationally recognised accreditation procedures, involving both subjective and objective assessments, including a portfolio and a visit, plus use of the online audit tool ADA.
Quality Recognition
- The Quality Hallmark Award, supported by Age UK and endorsed by all four major care homes organisations
- There are many benefits of being accredited, including recognition by PCTs and commissioners of the high quality of end of life care provided, entry on a publicly available database of accredited homes, local media interest etc.
GSF has enabled more residents with Dementia, to stay in the care home, we are their advocate, preventing a frightening admission to hospital, enabling them to be cared for by people who know and love them until they die
